It is time taking activity to prepare business report because it require special skills to spotlight key information that help management to take action. ChartExpo for SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) is an Add-In. After installation user can add "ChartExpo for SSRS" control under the toolbox panel in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, 2012, 2013. By using this control user can easily generate different reports without any special skills.
ChartExpo for SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) is an advanced reporting library that enables user to make effective and interactive visual representations of their data making sense instantly.
Supported Environment
ChartExpo for SSRS seamlessly integrates with SQL Server Reporting Services and gives add-in support for latest designer environments like Visual Studio 2010, Visual Studio 2012(SSDT for VS 2012) and Visual Studio 2013 (SSDT for VS2013) and Windows Operating Systems. ChartExpo for SSRS provides users with an advanced level of data visualization tool box that goes beyond basic reporting and offers a broader choice of visualizations compared to other service providers.
Installation Guide
Following steps should follow to install “ChartExpo for SSRS”.
Step 1:
Once the ChartExpo for SSRS is downloaded, double-click the installer file(ChartExpoForSSRS) to start the installation process.
Step 2:
Click “Next” button.
Step 3:
Select “Checkbox” to accept the terms.
Step 4:
User click at “Next” Button to proceed with installation.
Step 5:
Click “Next” button after selecting features to be installed. User can also change installation location by clicking at “Browse…” Button. After clicking at “Browse…” button a new pop up window opens.
Step 6:
Select desire location and Press "OK".
Step 7:
ChartExpo For SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) setup is almost near to finish. Click at “Install” button.
Step 8:
ChartExpo For SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) setup shows installation status with progress bar.
Step 9:
To finish installation user click at “Finish” button.
Now ChartExpo For SSRS is ready to use.
How to Run ChartExpo For SSRS
To run ChartExpo For SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) click at windows start button and select “Microsoft Visual Studio 2010”. Right click at “Microsoft Visual Studio 2010” and select option “Run as administrator”.
Add New Project
To create a new project click at “New Project” link.
Save New Project
To save a new project enter Name, Location and click at “OK” button.
Open Saved Project
To open a saved project select saved project and click at open button.
"Adding ChartExpo Control in VS ToolBox
After installing ChartExpo For SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) "ChartExpo for SSRS" control is needed to be aded in Visual Studio Toolbox panel as shown below.
Step 1:
Open Report Server Project in Visual Studio. Go to tool box widow. Right Click on Report Items and click Choose items.
Step 2:
Browse to the path
For Visual Studio 2013 “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies”
For Visual Studio 2012 “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies”
For Visual Studio 2010 “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies”
Select PVChartsDesigner.dll and click open.
Step 3:
Click ok to add item in tool box.
Your item is added to tool box. You can now drag and drop on to the report.
Adding Report
To add new report right click at reports folder and select “Add New Report”.
Adding Data Source
After clicking at “Add New Report” a new popup window opens. Enter data source name and click at “Edit” button to add Connection properties.
Adding Connection String
Click "Edit" to add " Connection Properties".
Query Design
After clicking at “OK” button connection properties close. Then click at next button at report wizard window.
Report Wizard Completion
To save report enter report name and click at “Finish” button.
Generate Report
Select "ChartExpo for SSRS" control under Toolbox tab and drag it to report design view area. Right Click on report design view and Select properties to add ChartExpo for SSRS Chart.
Chart Selection
To generate report first select chart. Click at drop down.
Adding Data
User can add data to report by click at plus button in front of Values. It shows already saved Dataset. At selecting Dataset user can view its detail with Values (frequency) and Category Goup (token). ChartExpo For SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) distinguish in data with Values () and Category Groups ().
Apply Properties
To apply properties click at properties tab very next to Data tab.
Generate Preview
Click Preview Tab to generate Chart Preview once values and category groups properties applied.
Export to PDF
User can export report as PDF. To do this user click at export button and select PDF option from drop down.
